FAQs
Have a question? You’re not alone.
Here are some of the most common questions we receive about memberships, shows, and participation in PJHSA.
Membership & Registration
Do I need to register my horse or pony?
No. This is no longer a requirement for PJHSA participation.
If you see it mentioned in the rulebook, it will be corrected in a future revision.
Do I need to include my date of birth?
Only junior members are required to provide a date of birth for Junior Membership.
Adult, Associate, and Family Memberships do not need to include this information.
See
Memberships for more information.
Do I need to include my barn name on forms?
Yes.
Including your barn affiliation helps us organize standings, awards, and banquet seating.
Do I have to fill out the membership form if I already paid?
Yes — the membership form is required.
Payment alone does not complete your membership.
Complete your form on the Membership page.
Can I join PJHSA at any time during the season?
Yes. You may join at any time.
However, points will only begin counting once your membership is complete.
Do I need to be a member before I show?
You may show without a membership, but points will not count until you are a registered PJHSA member.
Join on the Membership page.
Payments
Can I pay with Venmo?
Yes, PJHSA accepts Venmo (@Penn-Jersey) for memberships and other payments.
Please
include names and details in the payment notes so we can match your payment correctly. Payments without identifying information may be treated as a donation and your membership or banquet tickets may not be recorded.
What information should I include with my payment?
Always include your name and any relevant details (such as guest names or membership type) in the payment notes.
This ensures your payment is matched correctly and processed without delay.
What happens if I submit a form but don’t send payment?
A form is still required.
Without it, we may not be able to match your payment or complete your registration.
Points & Standings
When do points start counting?
Points begin counting once your PJHSA membership has been completed.
This includes both submitting the membership form and payment.
How often are points updated?
Points are updated periodically throughout the show season.
Please check the
Points & Standings page regularly for updates.
How many shows do I need to attend to qualify for year-end awards?
Exhibitors must compete in at least 3 shows to be eligible for year-end awards.
How are year-end awards determined?
Year-end awards are based on points accumulated throughout the season.
Final standings determine Champion, Reserve Champion, and additional placings.
Learn more on the Year-End Awards page.
Banquet
When is the Year-End Awards Banquet?
The banquet is held each winter following the show season.
It’s a night to celebrate riders, trainers, and barns for their accomplishments and all are welcome.
View details on the Banquet page.
Do I need to buy a ticket for the banquet in advance?
Yes. Banquet tickets must be reserved in advance by the posted deadline.
No tickets are sold after the deadline.
Can I bring guests to the banquet?
Yes! Family and friends are welcome to attend.
All guests must be included on your
banquet reservation form.
Shows & Divisions
Why doesn’t PJHSA offer Western divisions anymore?
Western divisions were discontinued due to low participation and difficulty sustaining shows.
Despite efforts to adjust formats and encourage participation, there was not enough consistent interest to continue offering these divisions.
